If you are a tenant in a housing association or council owned property, then you might be able to apply for a mutual exchange.

Homeswapper is a national website designed to help people to find a mutual exchange. This is a process where you advertise your home and state where you want to move to and what kind of property you are looking for. If someone has the home that you want to move to and they like and want to move to your home then you can speak to your housing officer.

You and the moving party will usually be able to complete a mutual exchange within eight weeks, as long as:

• You and the moving party have been a council or housing association tenant for over 12 months
• You and the moving party have no rent arrears on your account
• You and the moving party must not have been actively involved in any anti-social behaviour in or around your estate for over 12 months.
