Dr Christopher Handy OBE

Chief Executive of the Accord Group

Chris received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2009 and has been Chief Executive of Accord and its precursors for 21 years, previously working as a Housing Director and working in local government at Wolverhampton, Telford and Birmingham. Chris chairs Walsall Housing Regeneration Agency (a joint venture with Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, Caldmore Area Housing Association and the people of Walsall) which oversees the community wardens’ service and heads the regional resource centre for neighbourhood management and wardens’ programme, which is funded and managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government. He is Chair of the Matrix Housing Partnership Strategy Group and Executive Commissioner of the Commission for Co-Operative and Mutual Housing. Chris is a Board member of Walsall Alliance of Tenant Management Organisations (WATMOS) and is a non-Executive Director of the Midlands and East Strategic Health Authority Cluster. Chris was previously a member of the National Council of the National Housing Federation and is also a member of the National Housing Federation’s West Midlands Regional Executive Committee.
