Scheme raises a toast to a quarter of a century
Scheme raises a toast to a quarter of a century

Pensioners in Birmingham will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their sheltered housing scheme this week with a garden party for friends and family.

Cherry Tree Court, managed by Moseley and District Housing Association, was built on the site of a demolished church in Cotteridge in 1986.

The Woodfall Avenue scheme is home to 24 people, aged over 60-years-old, who each live in their own self-contained apartment.

To celebrate the scheme’s quarter of a century, friends, family and staff – past and present - will come together this Thursday (25) from 3pm to 6pm to share memories at a garden party.

Chief Executive of the Moseley and District Housing Association, Dave Cusack will also attend to present residents with a garden bench for their communal garden.

Roxanne Moseley, manager of Moseley and District’s older peoples’ services, said: “We have helped scores of older people to enjoy their retirement and live independently now for more than 25 years so we couldn’t let this special anniversary go by without marking it.

“It will be fantastic for staff, residents and friends and family to come together, reminisce and enjoy celebrating 25 years of being part of the Cotteridge community.”

Cherry Tree Court is a purpose build sheltered housing scheme that offers people aged over 60 a safe and friendly place to live in the heart of Cotteridge.

The scheme is managed by Moseley and District Housing Association, which provides more than 1,400 affordable homes to people across Birmingham.
